You will study a range of different units where you will learn about travel and tourism destinations, specialist tourism, different sectors of the industry, including events, cruise, tour operations and retail travel and customer service.
To support the work you do we will take you on industry visits and invite in guest speakers. You will also undertake work experience and have the opportunity to take part in both a UK and an overseas residential visit.

About this course
The programme is full-time for one year if you are completing the 90 Credit Diploma in Travel & Tourism and for two years if you are completing the Extended Diploma in Travel & Tourism, starting in September and ending June/July. You are expected to attend for a minimum of 16 hours per week.

It will also broaden your knowledge and skills in related industries such as passenger transport, travel services and tourist destinations and develop your analytical, research, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
The programme will improve personal learning and thinking skills and qualities that you need to develop, including confidence in your ability to go out into the workplace.
Level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma in Travel & Tourism. The 90 Credit Diploma in Travel & Tourism is equivalent to one and a half A Levels; the Extended Diploma is equivalent to three
A Levels.
Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English (if applicable).
You will learn through a mixture of taught lessons, group work and practical activities and this will be applied to actual events and activities within travel and tourism. Assessment is via coursework which may take the form of written assessment, short presentations on given topics, role-play or group work for each unit.
