If you enjoy poetry, plays and novels and think you'll enjoy dissecting, discussing and debating a range of texts from Shakespeare to Mark Haddon (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time) this could be the course for you.

One year AS/two year AGCE

What qualifications do I need to study on the course?
You'll need at least a C in GCSE English as well as at least 5 C grades at GCSE or equivalent.

What will I study?
In AS/AGCE English Literature you will explore some of the most interesting modern and classical fiction, poetry and drama. You'll also look at not just the ideas expressed in literature but also the craft of writing and the literary techniques writers use to create meaning. The ideal preparation for a degree course in English or a related subject.

60% exam 40% coursework

There are a range of options available to post AS/AGCE students - the skills acquired on the course are highly regarded by employers and universities. Related degrees include publishing, journalism, media, law and teaching.
