This is the second year of a two year course for those wanting to go to university and those students who have completed the first year course. This will give you the equivalent of 3 ‘A’ levels and the potential to gain between 240 and 420 UCAS points. Adding to this, the course includes a more indepth work experience, with students volunteering in 2 different sector settings and gaining 200 hours.

Course Content

This course is for anyone who has already completed the first year 90 credit diploma and wishes to pursue a career in health or social care, for example; nursing, occupational therapy, radiography or midwifery.

The course allows you to study a variety of units, which include:-

  • Health promotion
  • Values in Health and Social Care
  • Caring for Children and Young People
  • Safeguarding adults
  • Vocational Experience including 200 hours placement
  • Physiological disorders
  • Physiology of fluid balance
  • Public Health


Method of Study

This is a class based course where you will attend 2/3 days in college and placement.

Method of Assessment

There are no exams for this course. You will be assessed continually through a range of assessments including: investigations, practical work, reports, presentations, posters and a portfolio.
