Course Content

Hopwood Hall College, in partnership with Rochdale AFC, is offering a new Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport and Football qualification over 2 years (equivalent to 3 A-Levels). The course will be delivered at the Spotland Stadium in real training study facilities and you will play in the BCS ECFA League.


This course has been developed to meet the expanding employment opportunities within the sports industry including: health and fitness facilities, coaching/teaching, professional sport and performance.

• Principles of anatomy and physiology in sport

• Sports coaching

• Practical team sports

• Sports nutrition

• Psychology for sports performance

• Fitness training and programming

• Sport as a business

• Sports and exercise massage

• Anatomy and physiology for sport

• Injury in sport

Entry Requirements

16-18 with a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade C or above which must include?English and Mathematics and a keen interest in football training and coaching.

Possible Progression

Higher Education, Foundation Degree in Sports Coaching at Hopwood Hall?College or employment.
