Course programme

• A nationally recognised teaching qualification
• Progression onto the DTLLS qualifications
• A Level 4 Certificate In Education and Training participant is required by the awarding bodies to undergo 3 hours of Observed Teaching Assessment; our Level 4 Certificate In Education and Training training course incorporates an Observed Teacher/Training Assessment Day, where we can train your organisation's occupational specialists in Observation and Mentoring Techniques.
• This allows your organisation’s Level 4 Certificate In Education and Training participants to undergo the 3 hours of mandatory Observed Teaching Assessment by your organisation’s occupational specialists who have attended the Observation of Teacher/Training Assessment Day. The Mentoring process will be overseen and feedback to Level 4 Certificate In Education and Training participants from the occupational specialists will be checked by our experienced Level 4 Certificate In Education and Training trainers.
• The benefits of using this process are that substantial costs savings can be made and additional Observational records can be generated to strengthen the organisations QA process.
• However, if you do not have within your organisation, suitable occupational specialists, AMBA Training tutors will be able to provide the Observed Teacher/Training Assessment for an additional cost. Who is the workshop designed for? An associate teacher is someone whose role and responsibilities demand a less extensive range of knowledge, understanding and application of curriculum development, than the ‘full’ role. Associate teachers may deliver learning on a one-to-one basis from pre-prepared materials or course pack, or on a course confined to a particular level/subject/learner type. The role is not defined by the amount of time spent teaching or by contract type. • understand ways to negotiate appropriate individual goals with learners
• understand how to plan for inclusive learning
• understand how to use teaching and learning strategies and resources inclusively to meet curriculum requirements
• understand how to use a range of communication skills and methods to communicate effectively with learners and relevant parties in own organisation
• understand and demonstrate knowledge of the minimum core in own practice
• understand how reflection, evaluation and feedback can be used to develop own practice
• understand key concepts and principles of assessment
• understand and use different types of assessment
• understand the strengths and limitations of a range of assessment methods, including, as appropriate, those which exploit new and emerging technologies
• understand the role of feedback and questioning in the assessment of learning
• understand how to monitor, assess, record and report learner progress and achievement to meet the requirements of the learning programme and the organisation.
• understand how to evaluate the effectiveness of own practice

Teaching Practice Requirement: The Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector has a 30 hour teaching practice requirement through which you will create a personal and professional practice file. The mentoring will be done through e-mail contact, tutorials or on a drop-in basis as long as a log of contact is kept. What is required to achieve this qualification?
