You or your employer will choose from a selection of modules to help you build enough credits for your Apprenticeship. There are eight mandatory units which cover ’Computer Systems’ to ‘Managing Networks’ and ranging to ‘Maintaining Computer Systems’ and ‘Web Design Fundamentals’; you will then ‘design’ the rest of your course by choosing an ‘Industry Standard’ unit suitable for your job role and area of specialism, from IT Support Technician, Software Developer, Database/Network Analyst and Web Designer. Developing the Key Skills of English, Maths is crucial to your success on this programme and in your future career.

Attendance at college will be required for the Technical Certificate and Functional Skills part of the Apprenticeship. The majority of work and assessment will happen in the workplace however, where an assessor will come to check your work and make sure you are on track. Course programme
On Successful completion of this programme you will receive a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Professional Competence for IT, Web and Telecommunications Professionals, as well as a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in ICT Systems and Principles. You will also receive certificates for completing Level 2 Functional Skills qualifications in Maths, English and ICT.
The philosophy behind vocational programmes is to encourage student centred learning. You are encouraged to carry out your own research within a supportive and constructive teaching framework. Initiative, flexibility and a consistent approach to producing work in-class, in the workplace and during private study time is emphasised. The programme is assessed by a range of methods, including project work, role-play, oral presentations, case studies, in-class assignments, practical “hands-on” activities and coursework. To be successful it will be necessary for you to undertake a significant amount of private study to meet the demands of the programme.
All assessments are criterion referenced, based on the achievement of specified learning outcomes.
