Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering

After completing the qualification, candidates will normally continue in employment as a skilled engineer, progress on to
Mechanical Engineering degree programmes or the BTEC Level 5 HND Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at CRC.

- 2 A levels at grade A* - E

or

- Merit at an equivalent level 3 qualification (e.g. BTEC L3 Diploma)
- Plus, English and Maths GCSE at grade 9 - 4 (A* - C) or a willingness to complete these
- Relevant employment or offer of employment.

In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a professional interview.

Assessment is by a variety of assessment methods, including case studies, observations or practical work, assignments, time constrained assessments and work base projects.

All outcomes of your programme are assessed and each unit will be graded as a pass, merit or distinction. A pass is awarded for the achievement of all outcomes against the specified assessments criteria. Merit and distinction grades are awarded for higher level achievement.
