Description of the Course
This one year part-time course has been designed to meet the needs of those people working in a supervisory capacity and who want to develop the skills and competencies needed for first line management responsibilities. The course will enable participants to become more effective in their management roles.
Course content
To achieve the Professional Diploma in Management Studies, students are required to complete three Core units and six Specialist units. An example of the units is shown below.

· Managing Activities
· Managing Projects
· Managing Change
· Decision Making and Taking
· Winning Teams
· Managing a Budget

Delivery of the course is likely to be a mixture of class-based activities, workshops and on-line learning

Assessment
Students are required to complete a programme of assignments, which will be work based or work related. These assignments include oral presentations, seminars, group work, role-play and time constrained activities.
Who is the course for?
Individuals who already have a level 3 or 4 qualification and would like to progress to management, or individuals who do not have a level 3 or 4 qualification but have experience in management supervision or team leading.
Entry requirements
You should be a practising manager or hold a level 3 qualification or above.
What can I do after this course?
The Edexcel Level 5 BTEC Professional Diploma in Management Studies provides progression to the Edexcel Level 7 BTEC Advanced Professional Diploma in Management Studies.
