It is an essential step towards practitioner status - a license to teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (England)

The qualification aims to: Allow learners to learn the knowledge and skills required to enter teaching To provide skills at Level 5 in the National Qualification Framework for those wishing to pursue a career in Education and Training To provide opportunities for staff in the Complementary Therapy industry to gain a Level 5 qualification to enter the teaching profession
Develop practical teaching skills and prepare trainee teachers to teach in a wide range of contexts
The course covers the following areas: Developing Teaching, Learning and Assessment in Education Planning to enable Inclusive and engaging Learning Teaching, Learning and Assessment in Education and Training Theories, Principles and Models in Education and Training Wider Professional Practice in Education and Training Continuing Professional Development and Reflective Practice The qualification would be suitable for: Those with experience of teaching adults that do not currently hold a formal qualification Students who have already completed their Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (or equivalent) and wish to take the next steps Individuals currently working as Assessors who wish to achieve a Teaching qualification Opportunities for progression: Once the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training has been achieved, you may wish to progress to: Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training with a Specialist Pathway Qualification gained: Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training
Credit Value: 120 Guided Learning Hours for the qualification: 360 hours Assessment: There is no exam for this qualification
You will asked to keep a portfolio of evidence, including coursework activities, end of module assignments, reflective journal entries and carry out a minimum of 100 hours teaching practice, some of which will be observed
Entry Requirements: All applicants will be required to complete a short application form and will be interviewed prior to commencement of the course
Applicants must also meet the following requirement: English/Literacy GCSE Grade A* - C/Level 2 equivalent
Qualification or experience in the subject area you intend to teach
It is strongly recommended that you have or are working towards achieving Mathematics/Numeracy GCSE Grade A*-C/Level 2 equivalent
Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (or teaching experience)
