      Description

      The Diploma in Management and Leadership is a Level 5 accredited qualification aimed at those wanting to either refresh and accredit their management and leadership skills or those looking to develop these skills. This will give you the skills and knowledge to understand the role of management across a number of different areas of business. You will be able to apply these new skills as you work your way through this course, and that will benefit both you and your organisation.

      There are 7 units, each unit is assessed by online assignments including essays and analysis of case studies and requires you to provide your own experiences as well to answer the assessment questions in full.

      4) Product/service portfolio management (4 credits)

      When you begin your course, you will be allocated a tutor and provided with access to our online Moodle site, you will then be able to work through the course at times suited to you, we are here to help guide and support you through. All assignments are uploaded to the Moodle site, this is a straight forward process, but we also provide guides or you can call us for assistance if required.

      · What are the objectives of this course?

      The purpose of the qualification is to develop the underpinning knowledge of learners who are middle managers to enable them to lead and manage individuals and teams, develop strategic plans and manage strategic change. - Become a confident and competent manager - Develop skills and techniques for success - Learn how to build new services, products and customers

      · Who is it intended for?

      The qualification is suitable for managers in a wide range of occupations and sectors and gives them the opportunity to demonstrate management skills. The course is aimed at those wanting to either refresh and accredit their management and leadership skills or those looking to develop these skills.

      · Requirements

      - At least 18 years old - Working at Level 2 in English and Mathematics - Basic ICT skills (the course is online using our Moodle site, the level of skill set is just basic Microsoft office and able to upload attachments)

      Course programme

      1) Principles of management and leadership

      In this unit you will learn about the theories that have shaped the understanding of leadership and management and how these ideas have provided a guide to action for managers and leaders who secure success for their businesses.

      (24 GLH, 7 credits)

      2) Strategic business management and leadership

      In this unit you will learn about the importance of strategic planning in businesses and how and why businesses develop their strategic plans. Strategies vary between businesses. Some opt for growth, others opt for market share and yet others opt for brand leadership.

      (40 GLH, 7 credits)

      3) Strategic decision making

      In this unit you will learn about the role of information in strategic decision making. Markets are fluid and businesses need to understand the markets in which they operate in order to capitalise on any changes.

      (32 GLH, 6 credits)

      4) Product/service portfolio management

      Portfolio management means that unprofitable or outmoded products and/or services are withdrawn but new ones are added. In this unit you will learn about the need for a product and/or service portfolio in an organisation.

      5) Principles of innovation and change management

      In this unit you will learn about the need for innovation and change in businesses. Many, such as aerospace and pharmaceutical firms actively seek to innovate by investing in research and development activity. Businesses want to offer more profitable products and services, customers want cheaper and better products and services and regulators impose legal requirements on markets.

      6) Customer relationship management

      In this unit you will learn about the importance of customer relationship management. All business spend money, time and energy finding customers so it is important to get value from and offer value to customers by ensuring the relationship is an enduring and profitable one.

      7) Marketing management

      In this unit, learners will gain an understanding of the marketing strategies that can help managers achieve marketing and organisational goals in a competitive marketplace that is focused on satisfying customer needs.
