Who is this course for?
The course is for those with ambitions of a career in art and design. It will provide you with a good base from which you can progress on to A2 level.

What will I learn?
You will have the opportunity to experiment with media, develop skills, learn new techniques and explore a range of critical and historical materials. Confidence with drawing is central to many art and design activities and this can only be improved through practice.An education in art and design will lead to a better understanding of the visual world and provide opportunities for you to develop your own visual language and the capacity to make informed critical judgements. You will gain the ability to express yourself effectively and the course will help you to understand how ideas and information are communicated.Successful practice requires time and commitment, but it can be highly rewarding.

Assessment
AS consists of two units: a portfolio unit which is the coursework/portfolio unit and an externally set assignment unit (5 hours) which is the exam.

On Completion Achievement / Progression
On successful completion of the AS level you can progress to the A2 level. This can then lead to a foundation course or higher education in the field of art and design.
