Course Content

Study of how media texts are constructed and how audiences and users respond to and interpret them.

Candidates will demonstrate knowledge, understanding and skill in media production processes through research, planning, production and evaluation. You will need to engage in critical and analytical thinking about genre, narrative, representations and audiences in the media. There will be a mixture of practical classes and theoretical, formal lectures.

Method of Assessment

Year one:
  • You will sit a 2 ½ hour examination paper consisting of three compulsory exam questions.
  • Candidates will submit a pre production task (20 marks), a production task (40 marks) and a written report (40 marks).


Year two:
  • You will research a media text (45 marks), create a media product (45 marks) and write an evaluation (10 marks).
  • You will sit a 2 ½ hour examination and will answer three questions.
