Duration: 1 / 2 years
Why have our rights to free advice and representation been eroded? Why are the prisons overcrowded? Law allows for debate, sometimes heated, as we study the Legal System and its many complexities and problems. AS Law looks critically at the people who shape our legal system, from miscarriages of justice in our criminal courts to problems of access to the justice in our civil courts. There are mock trials and visits to the Courts. In the second year, A2 focuses on one substantive area, Criminal Law where you will study the intricate details of what amounts to a crime.

Qualification explained
A-Level courses are divided into two parts. In the first year you will study two units of a subject leading to an AS (Advanced Subsidiary) qualification. In the second year, you can take a further two units at A2 in the same subject to gain a full A Level. (In some subjects, the courses are divided into 3 rather than 2 units at AS and A2.)
