Who is this course for?
The AS Spanish course is designed for students who are looking for a fun and involved way to progress from GCSE level Spanish and achieve the AS qualification in one year. Both courses do involve a certain amount of homework and regular practice outside class time.
What will I learn?
In both courses contemporary Spanish texts and programmes will increase your vocabulary and give insight into sentence structures. Your reading skills and pronunciation will be enhanced. You will learn a number of grammatical points and improve your abilities to use the language accurately. You will be able to practice to express facts and ideas and to present spoken and written explanations, opinions and information, as well as listen to and understand spoken Spanish.
Assessment
AS consists of two
Assessment units: SN1 speaking and SN2 listening, reading and writing, including a 250 word essay on a topic from either area. A2 consists of two units: SN3 speaking and SN4 listening, reading and writing and includes a 400 word essay on a choice of topics: cinema; literature or a region of Spain. The exam board is WJEC.
On Completion Achievement / Progression
A modern foreign language is useful in a number of degree courses such as law, journalism, media, education, marketing and tourism. Alternatively this course will enhance your prospects in seeking employment where there may be Spanish or Latin American business links within an organisation or careers in areas such as the diplomatic services, art or tourism.

Requirement

You will then be invited to the college for an informal interview where you will have chance to talk with the tutor. You are also required to take a literacy and numeracy
Assessment. If you wish to take this course on a part-time basis please attend one of the enrolment sessions advertised on the college website.
