The ever-increasing popularity of hybrid vehicles means it is essential for the motor vehicle professional to develop their knowledge of their critical safety and technological features and the hazards they present, which are different to traditional vehicles. East Riding College is now offering courses on hybrid electric vehicles which were developed by the IMI, in consultation with Honda, Toyota and BMW. This is a single unit qualification for those people requiring a knowledge of hybrid vehicle technology, this award is designed for technicians who maintain and repair hybrid technology vehicles, but not the hybrid system itself.  It contains the knowledge required to work safely around a vehicle's hybrid system, while carrying out repairs or maintenance.
