About this course

Learners will need a good standard of general education (typically 3 GCSE's at Grades A-G) and a genuine interest in hairdressing.You may also apply for previous related learning and experience to be accredited to your studies. Learners must also be able to stand for long periods of time while completing treatments.

NVQ Levels 1 and 2 Return to Learn Hairdressing (C7520P)

What are the Course Details?
ttendance is structured around school hours enabling learners to take and collect children from school.
The qualification is universally recognised by the hairdressing industry and is the basic qualification for trained hairdressers. Learners will acquire skills through practical learning, supported by demonstration and theory.

It is brought to your attention that North Lindsey College will endeavour to obtain clients throughout the course, but it is the learners' own responsibility to ensure they have enough clients to obtain their qualification.

What will I Learn?
Learners commence a Level 1 programme in preparation for progression to Level 2. It is expected that learners will complete Level 1 in the autumn term, before starting Level 2 in the spring term, subject to recommendation by their course tutor.
Learners must achieve 85% attendance on Level 1 to progress to Level 2.

How will I Learn?
The course provides a good mix of both theoretical and practical training sessions. Training takes place in 'Images', North Lindsey College's purpose built and well-equipped salon, with specialist equipment and highly trained staff. Learners will build a portfolio of evidence throughout the course. Guidance is given but learners are responsible for collecting the evidence.
Learners may be expected to work in the evening in Images as part of their preparation for working in the industry.
Learners are required to supply and wear a salon uniform, comprising a black skirt or trousers (not jeans), black tunic top and black full shoes. Learners must also supply a hairdressing kit. Tutors will be able to advise on appropriate costs for these. General writing equipment is also essential.

How will I be Assessed?
There is no formal examination on the course. Progress is measured continually by means of oral, written and practical assessments throughout the course. A portfolio of evidence will also be produced throughout the course.

What Enrichments are Available?
Learners will have access to various activities within the College to develop and broaden their experience of College life.

Are there any Trips or Visits?
During the course learners can expect to attend hairdressing conferences and competitions.

Is there any Work Experience?
There are no formal entry requirements for work experience. Learners are encouraged to fulfil this criteria in their own time.

What can I Progress to?
On completion of Level 2, learners are encouraged to gain industrial experience.
