Lifting Equipment Practical Inspection & Record Keeping
Overview
This course is designed to provide a practical enhancement to the Safe Slinging & Lifting Appreciation course for people responsible for the more detailed periodic inspections of lifting equipment.
Delegates will learn to set up a recording system for equipment and carry out periodicinspections throughout the life of a number of items of equipment. This will be assessed by the trainer and the trainees will retain this as an example for their records.
The course will also demonstrate the strengths and weaknesses of certain materials by way of destruction tests.
If you are an employer or self-employed person providing lifting equipment for use at work, or if you have control of the use of lifting equipment, you must make sure the lifting equipment is safe.
The main requirements for you as a ‘duty holder' are in the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) and the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER).
