Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Advanced Apprenticeship

Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Advanced Apprenticeship Entry Requirements
It is recommended that candidates have achieved a level 2 award in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or a minimum of four GCSE's at grades C or above in Maths, Science or English based subjects or an equivalent qualification or suitable industrial experience. Candidates will require an interview and complete a skills assessment. Candidates must be in current employment as a Trainee motor vehicle engineer.

Content
This will develop practical vehicle maintenance and repair skills along with the associated knowledge to cover this advanced level of qualification, to allow candidates to demonstrate a level of competence and be assessed to meet National Standards at NVQ level 3.

Assessment
Candidates will be assessed through the use of examinations, practical and theory assignments. Assessment within the workplace will be required to complete the NVQ 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (Light Vehicle).

Progression
Once complete candidates can progress onto a Btec National Certificate or HNC/D in Engineering.

  • Technical Certificate - An appropriate Level 3 award such as City and Guilds Certificate in Light Vehicle (VRQ)
  • Key Skills - Application of Number Level 2, Communication Level 2 and Information Technology Level 1
