About this course

It is ideally recommended, but not essential that candidates have achieved a minimum of two GCSE's at grades C - D or above in Maths, Science or English based subjects or an equivalent qualification or suitable industrial experience. Candidates will require an interview and complete a skills assessment. Candidates must be in current employment as a Trainee motor vehicle engineer.

Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Apprenticeship

    This training is covered by a combination two 8-week sessions at one day per week, then four one week block spread throughout each year of training to support the Technical Certificate, key skills and practical skills.
Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Apprenticeship Entry Requirements

Content
This will develop practical vehicle maintenance and repair skills along with the associated knowledge to cover the skills required for this level of qualification, to allow candidates to demonstrate a level of competence and be assessed to meet National Standards at NVQ level 2 within an industrial environment.

Assessment
Candidates will be assessed through the use of examinations, practical and theory assignments. Assessment within the workplace will be required to complete the NVQ 2 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (Light Vehicle).

Progression
Once complete candidates can progress onto an Advanced Apprenticeship inVehicle Maintenance and Repair (Light Vehicle).

  • Technical Certificate - An appropriate Level 2 award such as City and Guilds Certificate in Light Vehicle (VRQ)
  • Key Skills - Application of Number Level 1, Communication Level 1 and Information Technology Level 1
