At the core of the program is a set of departmental courses on the nature of human language; in addition, the major draws on courses offered by other departments and programs. Declaring the major involves:
a) completing The Course Planning Guide for the BA in Linguistics, which needs to be signed by the Undergraduate Studies Advisor (Penelope )
I want to find another Bachelor Course
b) declaring the major on Axess
c) bringing the completed Course Planning Guide to the Student Services Officer (Ann Marie Pettigrew in 460-127E) pick up a T-shirt and arrange to have a picture taken for the Bulletin Board
By their senior year, linguistics majors are encouraged to choose a personal advisor from among the linguistics faculty. Students should consult with the Undergraduate Studies Advisor when declaring the major, and maintain regular contact during the remainder of their Stanford career.
Courses also draw on anthropology, psychology, and cognitive and computer sciences, among other disciplines.
