Course programme

Complete all of the following courses with a grade of at least 3.0 in each course. Any of the following courses or their equivalents may have been completed prior to enrolling in the Doctor of Philosophy degree program in linguistics.
Introduction to Morphology
Semantics and Pragmatics
Phonological Theory I
Phonological Theory II
An 800-level morphology-intensive course may be substituted for LIN 431 if approved by the student's guidance committee.
Complete two additional 800-level courses excluding Linguistics 890, at least one of which must be a Linguistics course. Additional courses may be required by the student’s guidance committee.
Pass the comprehensive examination by submitting two research papers of publishable quality in two different areas of linguistics and passing an oral examination for each paper. At least one of the papers must be in phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, or pragmatics.
