History

Lionel Playford has a BA and an MA in Fine Art and has been teaching in adult education since 1993 having started with Natural England as their first artists in residence at Castle Eden Dene in County Durham. He has run regular classes in a variety of practical art subjects with Newcastle and Sunderland Universities since 1997. He also teaches on residential art courses with Higham Hall College in the Lake District and withAlston Hall College near Preston.
LIonel is a professional painter who has exhibited throughout Britain and Ireland and in the USA since 1990. In 2007 he opened a new open studio and gallery in the North Pennine village of Garrigill in east Cumbria. This is the venue for Pennine Painting Art Courses.

Description

Welcome to Pennine Painting Art Courses. Spring 2008 saw the launch of Pennine Painting a new art courses venture run by Lionel and Alex Playford. We can now offer you our 2011 programme of courses. Classes take place at Rose House Studio in the beautiful North Pennine village of Garrigill with artist and experienced art tutor Lionel Playford. After the success of our first three seasons we are now looking forward to running an expanded programme of 3 and 4 days art courses from June to November 2011. Subjects covered will include landscape, abstract art, environmental art or indeed any relavent subject wich students request in sufficient numbers.
