Literature 1
Aim:
This Unit with Communication 4 is equivalent to Higher English, accepted at numerous higher learning institutions. The course examines the literary genres of the novel, drama and poetry, and involves in-depth analysis and close reading.

Length of Study:
18 weeks with tutor support.

Entry Requirements:
Communication 3 or equivalent, plus an interest in film or literature.

Contents:
Literary Techniques, Interpretation, The Novel, Poetry, Drama, The Short Story, Literary Genres, Analysis, Deconstruction and Close Reading.

Study Method:
Home-based self-study with tutor support, which may be on-line or mentored, plus some College attendance in group workshops.

Assessment:
Each Unit requires 3 completed Assessments. However, care will be taken to ensure that Assessments meet the requirements of each student on an individual basis, with tailoring of the Assessments towards the student's current level of experience.
