This course will develop your knowledge and skills in a way which helps you to bring together theory and practice in the field of lymphoedema care, as well as elements of palliative and end of life care. This will be achieved through developing your knowledge and understanding in the areas of specialist assessment and management of mild/moderate and complex lymphoedema alongside the consideration of contemporary approaches to lymphoedema service provision. The course provides you with the essential professional values, communication and interpersonal skills necessary when caring for this highly specialised client group.

The course will enable you to enhance your decision making and to develop a broader understanding of current and future trends which impact upon the planning and delivery of care to individuals with a life limiting progressive illness; achieved through studying modules which address wider aspects of specialist lymphoedema care, including research.

Practice improvement is an integral theme running throughout the award. As you progress and develop you will be expected to highlight and recommend changes in practice, utilising the knowledge and experience gained from each module.

The team of lecturer practitioners at Compton Care Learning and Development Centre will throughout this award aim to prepare you to practice in the 21st century by developing your knowledge and skills to meet the needs of individuals requiring lymphoedema care in a variety of clinical care settings.

About this course

Students will have attained 120 Level 4 and 120 level 5 credits prior to entry to the programme.

Applicants will be health and / or social care practitioners, working within clinical practice in these sectors, and must have access to clients requiring lymphoedema care.
You may advance your degree level knowledge and / or practice via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process using challenge assignments. This will allow you to raise the level of relevant prior learning at level 5 to level 6. Up to 50% can be accredited towards your degree.
