Cardiovascular Research is one of the focus scientific areas of Amsterdam UMC. The programme is embedded and aligned with the Amsterdam Cardiovascular Sciences (ACS) Institute.
The programme started in 2009 and aims to educate talented students who are willing to be educated as top scientists in Clinical Life Sciences with a focus on Cardiovascular Science and Technology. The programme includes education regarding the development, diagnosis and treatment of heart and vessel disease, and focusses on diseases with a huge societal impact, such as diabetes, myocardial infarction, thrombosis and heart failure. Furthermore, students will learn more about e.g. medical technology and imaging.

The programme:
is designed to equip you to become the next generation of scientists who are eager to understand the causes of cardiovascular disease and develop novel diagnostic and therapeutic modalities;
offers a small scale programme providing personal attention and guidance;

After successful completion of your study, you have earned the title MSc in Cardiovascular Research. The aim of our Master programme is to provide you with all the knowledge and skills required to become a highly competitive PhD candidate.

The master Cardiovascular Research offers you a challenging programme!

The Master Cardiovascular Research aims to train Bio-medically oriented Bachelors and related Bachelors in Life Sciences to become independent researchers with in-depth knowledge in the field of Cardiovascular Research.

  • Are you interested in Clinical Life Sciences and Cardiovascular disease and doing patient-oriented research?
  • Are you interested in working in a multidisciplinary environment?
  • Do you enjoy working with people who challenge each other to attain the best results?

If so, the Master programme in Cardiovascular Research was made for you!

On average 20 talented students from the Netherlands, Europe or outside Europe are admitted to the Master programme each year.

You have a high degree of freedom to choose among several specialized master courses and a number of outstanding research groups for research projects. The programme coordinator advises you during your career development and helps you to set-out a tailor-made program of your interests.

The Master Cardiovascular Research is a two-year international program of 120 ECTS and tuition is completely in English.

You can choose from a variety of optional master courses. All optional courses need to be accepted by the Examination Board.

The start date of this programme is September 1st.
