The MA British Isles c. 1536-1801 is designed to provide students with advanced tuition in their chosen field, and research training suitable for the effective completion of advanced research projects. This MA scheme gives students the opportunity to explore in depth the processes and conflicts which shaped the history of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales into a consolidated ‘United Kingdom’ in the early modern period. Students take a core module in semester 1 and an option module in semester 2 plus 60 credits of research training across both semesters in Part 1, and write a 20,000 word dissertation in Part 2. Students who complete Part 1 only are eligible for a Postgraduate Diploma.
