Course programme

The MA Historians and the Making of History is designed to provide students with advanced tuition in their chosen field, and research training suitable for the effective completion of advanced research projects. It offers students the opportunity to study and reflect on the history of historical research itself, including the use of the past in past societies, the professionalization of history, and the importance of ‘historical culture’. Students take a core module in semester 1 and an option module in semester 2 plus 60 credits of research training across both semesters in Part 1, and write a 20,000 word dissertation in Part 2. Students who complete Part 1 only are eligible for a Postgraduate Diploma.
