Course overview There are 1,817,049 employees in the construction industry and there is a shortfall of approximately 40,000 skilled employees. Therefore this apprenticeship framework has been designed to help meet the skills priorities of the sector. Typically an individual who is working towards this apprenticeship framework will assume the role of a maintenance operative and will complete the following tasks; working in domestic and commercial premises, repairing or renewing wood products, plumbing, wall and floor tiling, decorating, bricklaying and plastering depending upon the routes selected There are 1,817,049 employees in the construction industry and there is a shortfall of approximately 40,000 skilled employees. Therefore this apprenticeship framework has been designed to help meet the skills priorities of the sector. Typically an individual who is working towards this apprenticeship framework will assume the role of a junior painter and will complete the following tasks; working on a construction site/domestic/commercial premises, preparing background surfaces for painting and applying paint by brush and roller, hanging standard wall coverings. Apprenticeships are a tested way of training either a new or existing team member. An apprenticeship will provide on-the-job training which leads to an employee gaining a nationally recognised qualification which has been developed by the Sector Skills Council. The Apprenticeship framework will include the following elements; • Building Maintenance Multi-trade Repair and Refurbishment (Construction) -Level 2 Diploma (NVQ) • Building Maintenance Multi-trade Repair and Refurbishment (Construction) – Level 2 Diploma • Mathematics – Level 1 • English – Level 1 • Personal Learning & Thinking Skills • Employment Rights and Responsibilities Entry requirements An employee/apprentice must be over 16 years of age with no prior level 4 qualifications or above working a minimum of 30 contracted hours per week in an appropriate occupational role
