During this module you will be introduced to previous and new ways of thinking about management and leadership and the importance of these in the context of ongoing transformation and reform.The gendered nature of managerialism will be explored and types of leadership approaches analysed in relation to your own area of practice. You will consider the theoretical perspectives, concepts and tools used in the practice of change management and the nature and complexity of organisational change.Organisational approaches, with a focus on work psychology, to systems and patterns of working will be considered and strategies for effective management and leadership within organisations will be explored in seminar groups and with reflection on your own experiences...........................................................................................................................................................................This module can be taken as part of the BSc Nursing Studies top up degree. During this module you will be introduced to previous and new ways of thinking about management and leadership and the importance of these in the context of ongoing transformation and reform.

The gendered nature of managerialism will be explored and types of leadership approaches analysed in relation to your own area of practice. Non EEA students can only apply as part of a programme, not as a stand-alone module

The module is open to all students registered on a relevant degree programme. The module can also be taken as a stand-alone CPD module. If you have not previously studied at HE level 2 or level 3, an interview will be required.

English Requirements

For those students whose first language is not English the following qualification is also required:

  • IELTS: 7.0

Please note that due to changes in the UKVI's list of SELTs we are no longer able to accept TOEFL as evidence of English language for students who require a CAS as of April 2014.
