Suitable for: This qualification for those who carry out a 'general' management role. These cover management responsibility from line managers to senior managers. At level 3 and 4 these also include optional units for managers who, in addition to their general management responsibilities, are involved in quality or energy management. The Management N/SVQs benefit both employers and employees by offering a wide choice of units to suit the widest possible range of needs.

For employers the qualification can:

  • assist with recruitment and retention
  • increase efficiency and effectiveness in the workplace
  • boost employee morale and motivation
  • increase productivity
  • demonstrate the quality of the workforce to existing and potential customers

For employees the qualification can:

  • provide evidence of ability to do a particular job
  • help improve career development/promotion chances
  • give a sense of achievement
  • be gained on the job
  • be completed at a time and pace to suit

Structure of the Qualification

The qualifications are made up of either mandatory units alone - all of which must be completed, or mandatory units plus optional units.

Centres will receive support material and registered candidates receive a candidate book, complete with assessment routes to record coverage of the standards.

Modern Apprenticeships are aimed at those aged 16 or above and capable of achieving a vocational qualification (VQ) at Level Two or above. The programme can be used to train existing employees or new employees. Any company in Scotland - whatever its size - can take part in the programme. Potential trainees need to get a job before they can take part in the programme. People without a job, however, can contact a local training company such as ourselves AD Services (Scotland) Ltd.
