This short, university credit bearing course will involve the broad-based study of acute illness, its management and strategic interventions which can be undertaken by students in practice.
About this course
On successful completion of the module, you will be able to:
Critically appraise assessment, planning, monitoring and subsequent treatment of patients presenting with acute illness
Critically evaluate their own professional practice in relation to the management of acutely ill patients
Critically reflect upon, and demonstrate competence in, the theory and practice related to acute illness
You will:
Be able to provide evidence of previous study at Level 5 or above in a related subject area including but not limited to health and social care, social work, health promotion or youth work
Be a health care professional with access to an environment where you will be able to apply your skills to achieve the individual module learning outcomes. This does not specifically need to be employment and could include voluntary work
If you are a registered nurse but do not have a degree qualification, once you’ve completed this module you could offset the 20 credits through recognised prior learning (RPL) towards our online BSc (Hons) Nursing Studies (Top-Up) degree. This would reduce the number of modules you would need to study and the total cost of the course.
Alternatively, if you are a health and social care practitioner you may wish to offset the 20 credits by progressing to the online BSc (Hons) Integrative Health and Social Care (Top-Up) degree.
