Managing People Course Management is a broad concept. Trying to encapsulate it in a single definition is bound to be a tricky process. Peter Drucker (The Practice of Management, Heinemann Ltd, 1955) commented: 'Management is a practice rather than a science.' This is somewhat self-evident, but to try to make rules for successful management, in the same way as a chemical process, ignores the main element of variability. The aims of this course are to look at the ways mangers work towards organisational harmony within the context of the organisational culture and development. There is significant emphasis on teams and individuals and their roles within the organisation. Furthermore emphasis is given to effect management communication and planning with a view to achieving organisational success. Before finally concentrating on effective management techniques that can be employed in monitoring and controlling employees.
