Introduction:
Enhancing the appearance of nails by manicure or pedicure is an established treatment provided by beauty therapists and hairdressers. This course provides students with the essential skills needed to undertake a range of professional manicure and pedicure treatments.

Study Mode & Location:
This 14 week course last for 3 hours per week. It will be held at Preston College, Fulwood Campus, St Vincent`s Road, Preston, PR2 8UR.

All practical assessments must be carried out on paying clients, which you will be asked to provide.

Course Content:
Important factors for this qualification and its endorsements are to ensure the health and safety of the client and the operator. Units of study include:

• Support health, safety and security in the workplace (VR02)
• Support employment standards (VR74)
• Provide a manicure treatment (V8)
• Provide a pedicure treatment (V9)

Assessment:
All units are internally assessed by an assessor observing and questioning your practical work. There are also assignments and Units VR02 and VR74 are internally assessed via a single test paper. All practical assessments must be carried out on paying clients, which you will be asked to provide.

Careers & Progression Opportunities:
Successful completion of this course allows progression to Level 2 qualifications including NVQ Beauty Therapy, Advanced Nail Techniques and Nail Art.

  You may need to have an informal interview with a Adult Admissions Adviser before enrolling on this course.
