Manual Handling Instructor

Objectives

This course is designed to give managers, supervisors, and all personnel wishing to instruct basic manual handling skills the confidence and background knowledge to instruct manual handling skills to a peer group. The delegates receive classroom training using generic or company specific documentation and systems, in all areas of manual handling instruction.

Contents

The delegates receive theory and practical training under expert guidance from fully qualified and experienced personnel in the following aspects of occupational training:

· Introduction

· Manual Handling Course

· Scale of the problem (with manual handling)

· Functions of the human spine

· Types of injury

· Relevant legislation

· Kinetic lifting technique

· Practical exercises

· Communication skills

· Presentation techniques

· Trainers techniques

· Warm up exercises (taught by Physiotherapist)

· All delegates will stand up and train part of a course.

NB

There is a strong practical element to this course; consequently all delegates should be physically fit. It would be advantageous if delegates had previously received basic manual handling training.
