Manual Handling Key Trainers – 30 hrs

Summary This course is aimed at workers who have responsibilities for the training of staff who are required to carry out manual handling or moving and positioning duties. The course includes both theoretical and practical sessions and candidates are expected to undertake research, prepare and deliver a training session.

Proposed Learner Outcomes - The worker must be able to

• Understand the anatomy and physiology in relation to manual handling and moving and positioning individuals.
• Understand the legislation that relates to moving and handling and positioning individuals
• How to minimise risk before any manual handling/positioning activity
• Prepare individuals before moving and positioning
• Move and position an individual
• Understand the principles of safe moving and handling
• Demonstrate how to move and handle equipment and people safely
• Understand the principles of risk assessment
