MANUAL HANDLING OF OBJECTS

Course Length: 1 day

Course Aim: Upon completion of course trainees will have an understanding of legislation pertaining to manual handling, gain knowledge on spinal anatomy and biomechanics, risk assess loads, and be aware of how to reduce risks. Reporting of injury and using equipment will also be covered.

Course Content - Introduction to Manual Handling - The Law – Health and Safety Legislation - Biomechanics of Lifting including lever principle - Spinal Anatomy and muscular system - Heirarchy of Manual Handling principles - Risk assessment using T.I.L.E - L.O.L.E.R. and P.U.W.E.R. - Safely using equipment - Reporting injury - RIDDOR - Practical session on safe lifting techniques as per group requirement.
