About this course

Course programme
Learn the techniques of safe manual handling and lifting.
On completion of the course you will understand the statutory requirements and the need for safety training. The course covers the concepts of human kinetics and human physiology in particular the structure of the human spine and its components, facts on backs and lifting, posture, hand mechanics, lifting, pushing and pulling, handling problems, strain and accident prevention, use of available mechanical handing equipment / lifting aids etc. and much more.
This course meets the relevant statutory requirements of the Employer in respect of the provision of adequate training for these applications, and is based upon The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 (MHOR 92).

½ or full day depending upon applications, maximum 10 x candidates per course.

Course Content
Classroom based theory training to inform candidates of the relevant legislation / statutory requirements (HASWA 1974, MHOR 92, PUWER 98, LOLER 98 etc), raise awareness of site safety including the need to carry out risk assessments on the job to be done & load to be handled or moved, and the intended use of any lifting aids provided by the employer.
Information on weight limits & guidelines, together with practical demonstrations followed by supervised practice of correct manual handling techniques in a range of different lifting scenarios.
Course Certification
On successful completion of a theory test consisting of both open and multiple choice questions, and practical assessment using a progressive assessment report, successful candidates will receive a Certificate of Training in Basic Practical Skill and Ability.
Course LocationOn-site at Customers premises or other nominated venue.

All Safe-T-Solutions instructors are accredited by the appropriate accrediting body and are also fully experienced, trained, tested and certificated on manual handling operations.
