Description of the Course
The course is designed to provide individuals with a basic knowledge ofManual Payroll using the HM Revenue & Customs Employer CD-ROM.
Course content
The course will include:

· Introduction to PAYE and the payroll function
· Gross pay calculations both manually and using spreadsheets
· Complete and maintain key documents and records
· Statutory contributions and deductions
· Pensions and Voluntary deductions
· Statutory payments ie Statutory Sick Pay and Statutory Maternity Pay
· Process starters and leavers
· Methods of payment
· Confidentiality, security and other statutory responsibilities

Assessment
Two external examinations that will take place on Monday 14 December and Tuesday 15 December.
Who is the course for?
The course is designed to meet the needs of individuals in payroll employment who wish to improve their skills and knowledge and gain a recognised qualification in payroll and for those who are planning a career change to payroll administration.

No formal qualifications
What can I do after this course?
Learners will have the opportunity to progress to IAB Certificate in Computerised Payroll Level 2 and/or IAB Diploma in Payroll Level 3 and/or other book-keeping or accounting qualifications.

Additional costs
The cost above is for Level 1 only. Level 2 is the same but charged in addition. The college registration is only charged once per academic year. In addition two examination fees payable through Customer Services to IAB totalling £85.
