What's it all about?:
Do you love the sea and anything to do with it? Do you enjoy taking things apart to discover how they work? Are you interested in science and technology? As a Marine Engineer you will also need to be careful, responsible, safety conscious and a good team worker too. We will teach you other crucial skills so you can design, construct, operate and maintain engines and machinery in ships and offshore installations of every kind.
Progression:
On successful completion you may progress to the third year of the Foundation Degree in Marine Engineering and then progress on to the final year of the following degrees at the University of Plymouth:
- BSc (Hons) Design and Manufacture
- BSc (Hons) Design and Manufacture with Renewable Energy Studies
- BSc (Hons) Marine and Composite Technology
Alternatively, you can find employment in the industry.
Entry Requirements:
In our experience in order to be successful on this level of course you will need one of the following:
- 60-120 UCAS tariff points - any combination
- a BTEC National Award in a related subject
- an NVQ Level 3 in a related subject
- Equivalent qualifications or relevant work experience.
