Level Three A coastal city, Plymouth offers many opportunities for anyone wishing to become work as a Marine Engineer, working to build, fit, finish and maintain boat, from cargo ships to sail the oceans to super yachts destined for the shores of Monte Carlo, Marine Engineers can be trained in a variety of trades, such as electrical, mechanical, wood trades or fabrication and welding, so the career opportunities available when you qualify are hugely varied. To succeed on this course, you'll need to have good practical skills and be able to work carefully and accurately to complex drawings. As an Apprentice, you'll be drawing a wage as a paid employee of a local company, as well as gaining valuable skills and qualifications at City College Plymouth. The Advanced Apprenticeship is perfect for those who have completed the Intermediate Apprenticeship and are looking to build a further knowledge based and increase their qualifications. We'll take the skills you already have and help you further develop them as we delve into more complex aspects of Marine Engineering.

Entry requirements
We welcome applications from those who have a minimum of four GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above in science and maths, as well as one or more of the following:
48 UCAS tariff points (for September 2016 entry)
a BTEC National Award in a related subject
an Advanced Apprenticeship
an NVQ level 3 in a related subject
equivalent qualifications or relevant work experience.
Should the entry requirements not be met then individual cases will be considered.
