Course programme
Students whose degree is in another discipline, such as arts, engineering, science or business, must complete the Graduate Certificate in Economics before being admitted to the Masters program.
Completion of the Graduate Certificate plus the Masters of Applied Economics will take 2 years of full-time study.

Master of Applied Economics Example Study Plan Indicative study plan To qualify for the degree of Master of Applied Economics you must complete courses with a combined total of not less than 36 units comprising the following: Compulsory courses (9units): ECON 7001 Econometrics PGECON 7238 Challenges in Economic Policy and Applied Research (this is the 6 unit research capstone course) Three of the following courses not previously taken (9 units): ECON 7016 Resource & Environmental Eco PG ECON 7032 Public Economics PGECON 7044 International Finance PGECON 7058 Development Economics PG ECON 7062 Game Theory PGECON 7072 International Trade PGECON 7114 Money, Banking & Financial Markets PG ECON 7221 The Economics of Climate ChangeECON 7236 Sports Economics PGECON 7237 Industrial Organisation PG Two of the following courses not previously taken (6 units): ECON 7067 Economic Development IVECON 7100 International Finance IVECON 7102 International Trade IVECON 7115 Public Economics IV ECON 7204 Econometrics IV ECON 7122 Macroeconomics IV ECON 7121 Microeconomic Theory IVECON 7223 Advanced Time Series Econometrics IVECON 7229 Behavioural Game Theory and Experiments IV Plus additional courses (12 units): Additional courses to the value of 12 units chosen from the PG or Level IV courses above, or an additional 6 units plus ECON 7225 Master of Applied Economics Dissertation (6 units) Please note: Some courses require some mathematical or statistical background.
