Course programme

The program combines coursework and research.
The courses introduce the field of applied linguistics, including methods in applied linguistics research.
Students undertake a research project in their final semester of study.
 Students also have the option of completing a major in TESOL (Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages).
Applied Linguistics courses (LING) are offered in internal mode (on-campus) during the afternoons (from 4.

Master of Arts (Applied Linguistics) Areas of Specialisation The Department of Linguistics at the University of Adelaide specialises in teaching and research in the following areas: Indigenous languages Language revival The documentation of languages Language learning and language teaching Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) and its application in the fields of: Education Health Communication Sports Communication Example Study Plan Students complete 48 units of study, comprising 36 units of Applied Linguistics courses and the 12 unit research dissertationor Students complete 48 units of study with a major in TESOL, comprising 24 units of Applied Linguistics courses chosen from the list below, 12 units of TESOL courses, and the 12 unit research dissertation.
