students fluent in both Chinese and English seeking a career as a professional translator. The program is approved by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI). Students who successfully complete the Masters program and achieve the required level of performance in the relevant assessment will be recommended by the University of Adelaide for NAATI Translator accreditation at the professional level. The program provides rigorous training in translation skills whilst fostering intercultural communicative competence, building strength in critical and analytical thinking, research capacity and problem-solving strategies.

Course programme

Students enrolled in the Master of Arts (Translation and Transcultural Communication) are required to complete courses to the value of 48 units.
Students must complete 30 units of core courses including a 3 unit translation internship and either the 9 unit research dissertation plus 9 units of elective courses, or the 12 unit extended research dissertation plus 6 units of elective courses.
The standard duration of the program is two years of fulltime study.
This program is available part time.
Students who have completed the Graduate Diploma in Translation and Transcultural Communication will be granted 24 units of credit towards the Masters program.

Master of Arts (Translation and Transcultural Communication) Example Study Plan To qualify for the degree of Master of Arts (Translation and Transcultural Communication), students must satisfactorily complete a program of study consisting of the following requirements with a combined total of not less than 48 units.
