Course description, features and facilities The Master of Biological Science, with a specialisation in Marine Biology, provides you with knowledge of marine organisms, their habitats and ecosystem functions and will equip you for a range of jobs in marine research, conservation and management.Marine Biology includes a study of all marine life from seaweeds through to marine megafauna, considering their biology, ecology, behaviour, conservation and management. Through careful designed and executed field studies, you will gain a first-hand experience of our fascinating temperate ecosystems and the organisms they support. A graduate will understand the problems facing marine organisms at local and global spatial scales together within short and long-term timeframes. UWA is well equipped for teaching and research in marine biology. The specialisation is taught jointly across the Schools of Animal Biology and Plant Biology, supported by the world class research of the Oceans Institute, Centre for Marine Futures, and the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS).

Structure
The Master of Biological Science is offered by coursework or coursework and dissertation.
While the standard timeframe for completion of this degree is two years (full time), if you have previously completed an undergraduate degree in a cognate (related) area it may be possible to complete within 1.5 years.
The course offers a focused, advanced learning experience that will enhance career choices. You must complete all core units and specialisation core units. This degree also provides the flexibility to choose from a range of units to complement your specific interests.
