Course description, features and facilities The course is ideal for those looking to expand their current knowledge of the mining, energy and natural resources sector or for those who seek a new career path within this highly regulated industry. This course is available for law and non-law graduates.
Topics covered throughout the course may include: international investment in mineral resources, oil and gas law (locally and globally), corporate governance in the resources sector, climate change, agreements, project developments, mining law, environmental law and more. The student cohortThe student cohort is made up of a diverse mix of lawyers and non-lawyers - many of which have worked (or work) in the leading resources firms such as BHP Billiton, Woodside Petroleum or Fortescue Metals Group, and seek to expand their career prospects in the resources sector. Experienced and dedicated teaching teamThe University of Western Australia has a distinct advantage with legal education in the resources sector as we have accumulated decades of knowledge and industry connections through the University of Western Australia - Centre for Mining, Energy and Resources Law (CMENRL). CMENRL is The Centre for Mining, Energy and Natural Resources Law stimulates education and research on legal issues arising from the mining, energy and natural resources sectors of the Western Australian economy. UWA’s CMENRL is home to many thought leaders in the industry who will be teaching units within the Master of Commercial and Resources Law degree. Course delivery to accommodate busy professionals Subjects are often taught intensively, in non-standard teaching periods, to accommodate practitioners and overseas students.
