Course description, features and facilities The Master of Environmental Science will prepare you to deal with issues such as climate change, carbon trading, greenhouse gas emissions, water resource management, competition for land use, salinity, land degradation and rehabilitation,flora and fauna, habitat destruction, deforestation, energy and mineral depletion, air and water pollution, soil erosion, and groundwater contamination. You must nominate a specialisation on application. The Master of Environmental Science has specialisations in: Environmental ManagementLand and Water ManagementMarine and Coastal ManagementGeographic and Information Science and Environmental Management You will study the core units for the Master of Environmental Science: ENVT4402 Analysis for Natural Resource Management ENVT4404 Environmental Planning and Management ENVT4411 Geographic Information Systems ApplicationsEach specialisation has core units in addition to those listed above, with other units selected as options. Course structure and units can be found via the UWA Handbook.You may apply to replace the equivalent of half a year’s units with a research project.The Faculty of Science offers Master's by Coursework bursaries for domestic students and Postgraduate Merit scholarships for international students. Please visit the Faculty of Science website for details.Domestic students may be eligible for a Commonwealth supported place within this course. Structure
The Master of Environmental Science is offered by coursework or coursework and dissertation.
While the standard timeframe for completion of this degree is two years (full time), if you have previously completed an undergraduate degree in a cognate (related) area it may be possible to complete within 1.5 years.
The course offers a focused, advanced learning experience that will enhance career choices. You must complete all core units and specialisation core units. This degree also provides the flexibility to choose from a range of units to complement your specific interests.
