Course description, features and facilities Sport and Exercise Science specialisationThis Master's specialisation is aimed at students wishing to undertake advanced study or research majoring in one of the sub-discipline areas within exercise science. There is a choice of postgraduate units within biomechanics; motor control and development; exercise physiology and biochemistry; health behaviour and performance psychology; and exercise rehabilitation.The imparted knowledge and skills align well, and provide opportunities for students to engage with, the Schools major research themes and community outreach programs - visit the SSEH website
Research Themes:• High performance in sport and industry• Prevention and management of chronic medical conditions• Lifespan physical activity and health• Principles and mechanisms of movement and injury Community Outreach Programs:• Aquatics – learn-to-swim through to high level competition• Paediatric Exercise Programs• Exercise and Performance Centre
Each specialisation has additional compulsory units, with other units selected as options. Course structures can be found via the UWA Handbook
If you meet certain eligibility requirements, you may apply to replace the equivalent of half a year’s units with a research project.

Structure

The Master of Exercise Science is offered by coursework, or by coursework and dissertation.


This course offers a focussed, advanced learning experience that will enhance career choices. You must complete all core units and specialisation core units. This degree also provides the flexibility to choose from a range of units to complement your specific interests.
