For each 8 point subject you are enrolled in, you should expect to spend 10 to 12 hours per week working on assignments and assigned readings, tutorial assistance, individual or group research/study, forum activity, workplace learning, and attending lectures, residential schools, or examinations.
If you are studying four subjects per session, this is equivalent to a full-time job. The workload for some subjects may vary as a result of approved course design.

To graduate with the Master of Information Studies, students must complete 96 points comprising nine (9) core subjects (64 points) and four (4) restricted elective subjects (32 points) chosen from those listed in the Specialisations.
Available specialisations include Children's Librarianship, Data Management, Information Architecture, Information & Knowledge Management, Leadership, Librarianship, and Records & Archives Management. Subjects have a value of 8 points unless otherwise specified.
