Both degree programs are offered entirely online and are designed for working professionals in the food and agriculture industry, law, government, and related areas who wish to enhance their working knowledge or to seek careers in the field of international food law.  Students should have an earned Juris Doctor (J.D.), Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.), or comparable law degree.

Additional courses may be approved by the Associate Dean for Graduate and International Programs and Director of the Global Food Law Program.
Students who are pursuing the M.J. degree must complete an additional 2 credits in the following course:
Foundations of Law and Legal Research
One of the following courses:
Research, Writing and Analysis
Research, Writing and Analysis: Intellectual Property Perspective
A minimum of two courses from the following:
Trademark and Unfair Competition
At least 14 credits of course work in Intellectual Property and Communication from a list of approved courses maintained in the Michigan State University College of Law.
