The aim of this course is to prepare graduates to become ethical, effective health leaders and managers who support innovation and who are able to take the lead in strategic development of a range of organisations, leading to culturally safe, resource-efficient health care within local, national and global health contexts.

The two year course is offered at Master level only with exit options being the Graduate Certificate in Health Administration and the Graduate Diploma in Health Administration.

About this course

To be eligible for admission to the Master of Leadership and Management in Health Care, an applicant must have completed either:

the equivalent of an Australian bachelor’s degree in a health or human services related discipline; OR
the equivalent of an Australian Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in Health Administration; OR
the equivalent of an Australian bachelor’s degree in any discipline and relevant work experience in a health or human services role.

This course is suitable for health practitioners of any health-related discipline including registered nurses, medical practitioners, medical scientists, social workers, pharmacists or dentists, among others, who occupy or aspire to leadership or management roles within the health service industry.
Students will be supported to develop comprehensive, theoretically-based knowledge and a suite of skills that can be applied in leading and managing health services across a range of health settings.
A career in health care leadership and management means that students will have opportunity to make a real difference to the health and social welfare of the individual, the organisation and to the community.
